Proverbs in Rhythm and Rhyme with the Menorah at Patricia's
first book signing. |
Prologue
I like to think the order in which the Holy Spirit
placed Solomon’s three books in the canon was not
just a second thought on His part but rather the very
sequence of the king’s life as he lived it.
In Solomon’s youth, he received abundant
instruction on how to live a righteous and godly life
and how to avoid the pitfalls that he so frequently
expounds on in Proverbs, his first book. Although
he had begun with lofty intentions to serve God
wholeheartedly and his people well, he succumbed to
the fleshly forces of this world during his midlife. His
fall resulted in the woeful penning of Ecclesiastes,
his second book, wherein he tearfully laments his
apostasy from God, declaring the total vanity of a
life without Him.
Ah! But then, the joy that bursts forth in Songs,
his third book, as he describes the ecstasy that can
be only experienced by the soul who has felt the kiss
exchanged between Christ and His beloved bride, a
kiss that says, “I find no fault in you.”
